| Description | This westerly facing photograph is of a weir on the southern side of a Bridge over Thornton Beck (right side of the picture). The flow of water along Thornton Beck is managed though the village by a number of weirs and sluices that direct the flow along different water courses. On the other side of the bridge is a sluice, which empties into a water course that can be seen ahead, in Chestnut Avenue, having passed under the third arch of the bridge. On this side of the bridge, and depending upon the flow, the weir also allows some water into this water course. However, a significant part of the flow continues under the wall to the left into the grounds of The Hall. |
