| Description | The gang has arrived to strip these trees of last year's growth. This method of pruning new growth back to the trunk is called pollarding. In this case it does ensure that some light gets into the street at the height of summer although the attractiveness of the trees themselves, particularly after leaf fall, is questionable. |
