| Name | Paisley - Glenburn - Gleniffer Road (heading south to Gleniffer Braes) |
| Distance | 0.37 miles from PA2 8EA |
| Description | On the left is where St Aelded's School used to be and is now a housing estate. On the right of me is Stanely Dam. The Castle sits in the Dam and I have uploaded pictures of it. It was built in the 14th Century. In this pictures looking towards the Gleniffer Braes I'll list the local landmarks. The high flats are the Glenburn High flats. Just on the left of them is the Mormon church. The garage you see is called the shieling. It was built in approx 1988 where it replaced and updated an old shop. The shop got business from locals and sold lemonade to people heading up the Gleniffer Braes at weekends. On the top left of the picture you can see Paisley Golf Club. To get there you must enter it by travelling to Braehead road and going up the 1 in 10 hill where the sign says Gleniffer Braes. This area is the very south of Paisley. Which headed to Nethercraigs Village which is now gone and another new housing estate is in its place. A railway line used to be in this area too at the top of the hill at the high flats that travelled through the dam and into Foxbar. Grants whisky had bonds in this area, but all are also gone from the Nethercraigs Village which is not mentioned in maps any more. I'd like to add historical notes to pictures and as much detail as I can possibly remember. |
