| Name | John Bright's Fieldhouse Mills, Rochdale, Lancashire |
| Distance | 0.12 miles from OL12 6EJ |
| Description | John Bright was a mill owner, sometime MP for Rochdale, and a social reformer. He believed that factory workers should enjoy reasonable work conditions and made sure that was the case for his own workers. The two brick-built factories shown here were owned by John Bright and sons; the left hand one, with the flag, became redundant shortly after this 1967 view and was pulled down. The houses are in Joy Street, and the photograph was taken from the first floor window of a house in Scarr Drive. |
