| Name | River Irwell, Kersal, Salford |
| Distance | 0.14 miles from M7 3PG |
| Description | This square contains the apex of the meander mentioned in the description for SD8101 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2987 . This view is looking downstream and was taken from SD 821 015. Whilst taking this photo (April 2005) I noticed that the riverbank here was extensively colonised by immature Giant Hogweed. I wouldn't like to go there when the plants get bigger as contact can cause a uv induced rash which can lead to a severe dermatitis. These things can grow up to 5m tall with leaves over 1.5m wide! |
